A very fine miniature portrait painting, on natural wafer, of a handsome young gentleman with long blond hair and hazel eyes. He is nattily attired in a black coat with a patterned vest and a boldly reddish and blue striped tie with a long stickpin. He is proudly displaying some kind of honorary or fraternal pin hanging from his left lapel.
The miniature is in a cast foliate case. The reverse of the case is elaborately chased, and has a glazed aperture which contains a lock of hair. A label indicates that this miniature was part of the Paul and Barbara Carpenter collection, sold at Garth's auction house in 1997.
The condition of the miniature is excellent, with no chips, cracks, bowing, restoration, or other problems. The case itself is also in fine fettle.
