Pair Korean Scholar's Book Chests, four(4) claws Korean Dragon and Phoenix Bird are battling in the flame, inlaid with Mother of Pearl, twisted Brass and faux tortoise shell, 41" high, 27" wide, 12 1/2" deep each in the background of dark brown lacquer with gold powder sparkling finish. Inlaid design of the wings of Phoenix Bird and Dragon are spread out into both sides, and the back is plain dark brown lacquer finish. Whole Book Chest supported by scrolling feet, shows continuous inlaid work. Butterfly Brass back plates are symbol of Korean Buddhist sign or letters for "Temple" or "Buddhism" in Korea. Two(2) Yin and Yang red and white locks are securely lock the two(2) doors include the keys to open. Top open space for the books and documents above two(2) drawers with Brass Handles, and two(2) blind doors inlaid with large size of Dragon and Phoenix Bird in flame, and pasted typical Korean Buddhist color Red and Blue paper lining inside the open storage space. There are cut out Buddhist and Temple Characters on Both side above the spreading Dragon and Phoenix Bird wings. The carved Character of Temple or Buddhist means simply "Manja" in Korean for "Letter Man" over 5000 years old history, display in all the temples and Buddhist institutions in Korea, very different than German Nazi Swastika copies, exactly opposite shape of letter than Korean Temple sign "Manja". These Pair of Korean Book chests have been in Washington DC Diplomatic house for over 58 years in one same house until today since purchased during 1960 in Seoul, Korea. The condition is in very good condition.

Early 18th century large English Gilded on carved Wood over Mantle Mirror, Ca. 1720's, 50" wide, 28" high, large Queen Anne Shell carving on top in the center with three(3) dimentional deep heavy carving on original gilded Wood, continuous design of foliage with flower buds, large leaves and Cartouches between large open spaces between each design, and divided three(3) sections within one heavy carved gold frame. Back board is original wood, original paper was pasted on top of the board still visible. I do not see any restorations done on gold or anywhere else or any missing chips, shows some wears on gold finish, revealing reddish undercoat, show beautiful 18th century patina. Glass looks old, not new but I am not sure that it is 18th century glass. All the carved designs are done in very detailed and fine quality art work.

Meiji period 1890's, 9 3/4" high, 3 1/4" diameter-top rim, 3 7/8" diameter-bottom rim, The story is telling beautiful landscape surroundings, ladies in silk brocade Kimono and children are outing in the beautiful garden scenery wearing most beautiful silk Kimonos with finely detailed pattern of silk brocade highlighted in low relief brilliant gold design, most of the gold decorations are done with one(1) hair brush in perfect brush strokes, scenery is circling around the entire vases inside four(4) or five(5) floral and geometric pattern of narrow bands, also painted with very tiny small exact pattern of brush strokes in brilliant gold. Most of the decorations are so tiny smaller than hair line, camera can't captured the very detailed fine designs. Each vase depicting different stories but continues one vase to another vase, ladies and kids are outing, playing games or talking each other in the most beautiful Japanese garden scenery and lake under the red Maple trees, and tiny geese are flying far above, and ladies are carrying paper and bamboo Umbrellas. The condition is near perfect, some flat gold band designs are worn on the bottom from the handling by hands, not noticeable unless you put vases upside down.

Pair Chinese Canton Export Blue and White large Tea Canister, Tea Jars, with replaced carved Rosewood covers, Ca. 1830, 13 3/4" high, 12 1/2" high, 7 1/4" wide square top, heavy weight porcelain with four(4) panels are decorated with different typical Canton design with very nice old clear underglaze blue, containing of Pagoda in the lake with mountain background, man crossing on the rainbow shape bridge, Pavillion in the lake willow and pine trees and mountain background, Pavilions and pine trees on the river bank. There are few chips around the top rim and corner of square bottom, no repair, rings like bell. Carved Rosewood cover was replaced about 50 years ago, in good condition.

English William and Mary Walnut Marquetry inlaid Chest, ca. mid 1700's, 37" high, 38" wide, 21 1/2" deep, with 5 drawers, one(1) long drawer above three(3) graduated size drawers supported on four(4) inlaid Bracket feet, inlaid Marquetry design of Crown above the each key holes adorned by fine line of scrolling vines, William and Mary style brass tear drop handles and brass back plates, all drawer front is inlaid with yew and olive wood enclosed within scrolling repeated pattern of borders, all five(5) drawers are good operating condition with old steel keys(enclosed). Top of the chest also shows magnificent display of Marquetry work and feather banded inlaid work. Feathered and Cross banded veneer inlaid work detailed hunting scene among deer, dogs and figures with Trumpets on both sides among the stylized multiple trees and bushes, Marquetry inlaid work on the Bracket feet, secondary wood is Oak. This is an beautiful old aged furniture, truly a good examples of old English Marquetry work. Back side is still retains old wood backing. Shows old age, some veneer restoration work was done and shows small cracks on both side of the top and drawer front.

Pair Korean rare Burlwood and White Brass Scholar's Chests, "Mungap", 32" wide 14" deep, 18" high, with white bass square handles on four(4) lift up style doors and flower shape white brass lock plate on the beautiful grain of burlwood panel doors under the 4 drawer. Second drawer from the right lift up first with key into the key hole and pull out towards front will open all rest of 3 drawers one by one after push to the same slot, it is secret doors and must know how to open all the drawers one by one. Sides and back is chestnut color of wood. The condition is good, some wears and old patinas on the wood. I do not have original key but can be used any fake key(photo shown) to lift up the second panel door first and open rest of doors one by one same way. All Sides, backs and tops are finished with old chestnut brown color lacquer paint.

French 18th Century Louise XV period Provincial hand carved dark Oak Cupboard Buffet, 74" high, 55" wide, 20" deep-bottom cupboard section, 12 1/2" deep-top shelving area, retain old heavy Brass Hinges and black iron original lock mechanism inside. Three(3) shelves behind the decorative racks to hold plates on top, and deep hand carved large Sunflower with vines on the top, above large open space, with one shelf behind two blind doors which carved with original floral and vines in front of the inset wooden panel and carved rope design on the border. This Cupboard is one(1) piece connected with large screws between top and bottom section, can be separated as two(2) pieces for easy moving. Four(4) small legs are Louise XV style connected from the top of the cup board, used one(1) piece of long vertical molding, and wooden pegs are used throughout the cupboard. This is a really nice small size of French Country furniture with original condition. The condition is good, old patina throughout the old dark hardwood. One old key is still operating heavy carved doors, open and lock.

Flame Mahogany oval shape panels are used for two(2) doors, inlaid with satin wood and thin black Olive wood inside the oval shape flame Mahogany panels, and black Olive wood lined inside rectangle shape doors, and completely flat panels fit tightly with brass inner hooks upper and bottom section on the left side door. This beautiful Mahogany Linen Press are supported on the French style splayed feet, very well preserved in the private home for over 50 years. Picture for back side also shows the nice even dark aged wood panels together for many years, shows some age wearing on the corner of the molding, fake key will be provided for the key hole to open the door.

This is the most beautiful original 18th Century Italian carved wood frame with gilding and partial Polychrome painted Mirror, Ca. mid 1700's, 35" high, 28" wide, 2 1/2" to 3" deep. Mirror glass is all original, nothing replaced and also the finish on carved wood frame is also original with Polychrome paints and gilding partially. Backing is original wooden panel. The condition is really old original condition, nicely faded and aged finish, nothing major pieces are missing, shows old patina and wears on the surface. Pictures shows some old dark spots and cloudy mirror front is part of aged glass and some lines in the mirror are room settings when pictures were taken, no damages in the glass.

Pair Chinese Famille Rose Porcelain Flask shape or Moon shape Vases, Ca. 1800, 10 1/4" high, 7 1/4" wide-widest part, 2 1/2" wide on the oval shape base, 2 1/8" diameter on the top rim, with applied climbing 3 dimensional Lizard handles on both sides, on top of the overglaze decorated flowers and vines in pink background, yellow wide band on the top and the bottom with decorated floral vines. Large roundel on both side of the vase with two(2) Dragons chasing the flame in the center in Turquoise color background. All the decorations are done in overglazed enamel and the details are very fine and beautifully emphasized the each design. There are two(2) very shallow flake chips on the unglazed bottom rim size of 1/4" long(only reason to notice is lighter white color, not much depth), and small white chip on the elbow of one of the Lizard the size of 3/8" wide. The Gold decoration on the top rim is worn on some areas and one(1) tiny bubble is popped in the kiln. These exact pair of Flask shape Famille Rose Porcelain Vases in beautiful condition and the decorations are finely done, very difficult to find such a fine quality.

Japanese Marquetry inlaid Table, mid 1800's, beautifully detailed various design and color of wood Marquetry works are displayed in this three(3) functional table, all in one(1) table as a Book Stand, a Chess table and a Sewing or Work Table, 33 1/2" high, 13" deep, 35 1/2" wide when it is open, 17 1/2" wide when two(2) leaves are closed, with inlaid 4 side brackets support leaves on both sides. This multiple purpose table comes in two(2) parts, separate stand with curved black lacquered legs connected to the rectangle shape stretcher on the bottom to strengthen the legs. There are two(2) small drawers above one(1) long drawer next to the small door inlaid with Persimmon wood Cherry tree, and mounted with stamped white metal. Inside the door, there are small drawers. There is a removable inlaid board pull out from the front bottom area on top piece, use as a work table in front and also can be used as a reading board on top of the back as a reading table. This table is a multiple purpose table and space oriented, plus a very beautiful piece of Marquetry furniture in any room setting. There are slight warping on the table top, some wear and tear on wood surface, no missing inlaid pieces, but one small attached tree branch is missing on the small door on the right side, considering a very delicate piece of puzzle type marquetry wood work, the condition is good.
