This is a grande Matl jeweled collar necklace consisting of turquoise and amethyst stones. It is 2 3/8in. wide and has a wearable length of 17.5in. The hallmark with Matl on top of the Salas (as shown) is from the Spratling Era and Pre 1980 but after Matilde Poulat was deceased. There is no MS-12 on this necklace which would date it outside the Spratling era. It is in fabulous condition with no chips to the stone and no damage at all. This is a staggering 181 grams heavy. The necklace has the silver cut out from behind the amethyst which was a technique that was stopped later on in production. Probably to save time in the making and dating this necklace closer to the 60's as well as warmed teal cabochon turquoise stones. When worn the piece has great flexibility around the inside as the first section is not connected to each piece. Also the weight is perfectly balanced all the way around when worn so it feels light as a feather. This is truly an iconic design for Matl and it is the largest scale for this links design. Truly magnificent, LOOK AT THAT NECKLACE!!!
