This bulbous storage jar is in unusually good condition. It is decorated with black painted motifs that include large zebu bulls (revered in the Indus Valley culture) water, birds, and grain - symbols of fertility and prosperity. In style it appears to come from the area of Nausharo in present day Balochistan, a smaller town famous for its long pottery tradition about 200 kilometers north of Mohenjodaro. Height 16.5 cm; diameter: 16.5 cm. Condition: Excellent, expected wear for its age and burial conditions; intact; no repairs or repainting. Purchased in Pakistan in 1969 Price: $1800 USD; $2380 CAD (HST of 13% will be applied on all sales in Canada).
