This unusual 5-1/2" x 3-3/4" souvenir postcard is part of a 14 card series that explains the processes used at The Knowles, Taylor & Knowles Co. / Potters / East Liverpool, Ohio, makers of Lotus Ware. This card is numbered I.
The text reads "Kaolin, Ball Clay, Flint Spar and Water are weighed and then mixed in the blunger and this 'Slip' is then 'sifted' over silk lawn to remove foreign matter."
The illustrations are captioned "Clay Bins and Car Scales" and "Blunger and Sifter."
Condition is good. The corners have been bumped, and there is a bit of chipping at the top left corner (also on the back of this corner). A small black spot on the back, and some age discoloration, but nothing terribly distracting.
Note that this scanned image is not as crisp as the actual postcard. A great find for the collector or researcher of American art pottery and American china/dinnerware.
