Here is a beautiful set of 6 small hand-painted porcelain plates made at the kiln of Kakiemon XII (1878-1963). The name Kakiemon has been associated with superior craftsmanship since the 17th century. In 1971 the Kakiemon tradition was designated Intangible Cultural Property of Japan (National Living Treasure) and the current heir of the name, Kakiemon XIV, continues to produce splendid porcelain.

Please let us know if you have some questions.

Each plate is in very good condition and bears the famed mark of Kakiemon XII, called “kakufuku”, on its base. On of the plate shows a very minute hairline (see pictures 11 and 12).
Dimensions: 9.3 x 2.1 cm (4 x 4.4 in); 50 g (8.6 oz)
