A splendid hanaire (vase) made by a Bizen potter named Fujimaki Shiho, born in 1929.

Bizen pottery is a more than one thousand year old tradition, characterized by a usually reddish, strong ironlike body, which is traditionally unglazed but may feature ash glaze from wood firing.

Fujimaki Shiho is a recognized Bizen potter. His kiln, established in 1978 and located in the village of Higashi-katakami (Okayama prefecture), near Inbe, is called Daito-gama. His work has been exhibited at Japan Traditional Art Crafts Exhibitions.
