Guest Book

A splendid ko-seto (old seto) dish, with a wonderful greenish glaze: an attractive characteristic of this ware, echoing the tones of Joseon ceramics. Though it seems to have been a humble utilitarian vessel, time has given it the noble air of tea room potteries through its sobriety and wabi-sabi appearance. In it, one may even see a moon peeking through dark clouds.

Please inquire if you have some questions.

The dish, which dates from the Edo period (1615-1868) shows old repairs (see pictures 9 & 10) with lacquer and gold, and an innocent, small hairline (see picture 4). It is otherwise in very good condition.
Dimensions: 17 x 4 cm (6.8 x 1.6 in), weight 310g (10.9 oz)
