A very fine iron tsuba dating from the Edo period (probably mid Edo) (1615-1868).

It is decorated with finely incised designs of phenixes among paulownia (kiri) flowers (front and back). Traces of inlaid gold can still be seen on some of the flowers.

The tsuba is in very good condition; it shows obvious signs of its age. It will be shipped in a fitted wooden box bearing the attestation.
