A very attractive hanaire (vase) made by a legendary artist from the Hagi pottery tradition: Sakakura Shinbei (1917-1975), a fourteenth generation potter.

Sakakura Shinbei XIV became a Yamaguchi prefecture Intangible Cultural Asset Holder in 1972.

On this vase, the play between the silky white glaze and the strong lines of the square vase is quite remarkable.

Kindly inquire if you have some questions.

The vase is in overall very good condition; at a few spots around the mouth, the delicate glaze seems to have chipped off. It will be shipped in a signed wooden box.
Dimensions: 6.5 x 20.5 cm (2.6 x 8.2 in), weight 770g (1.7 lb)
