This superb guinomi (sake cup) was made by Kato Kozo (b. 1935) who was designated Preserver of Important Intangible Cultural Property (Living National Treasure) in 2010. He is also an Intangible Cultural Property of Gifu prefecture (1995).

Kato Kozo is certainly one of the great masters of Shino pottery, and upholds his craft to very high standards, literally destroying unsatisfactory results.
