An iconic work by Suzuki Goro, one of the famed chairs made in the Oribe style of pottery. Suzuki Goro has always let his playful mind inspire him to create objets, based on techniques developed during the Japanese Momoyama period (1583-1600). The Mino pottery tradition with its wide spectrum of styles (Shino, Oribe, Seto,...) has been an ideal play field for the artist.
Suzuki Goro is a potter who goes beyond that usual appellation. His works, which have a strong sense of individualism, include tea bowls with colorful painted cars, large mugs with stone bases and spectacular jubako (stacked boxes). He is also a master of more orthodox pieces. In 2002, Suzuki Goro received the very prestigious Japan Ceramic Society Prize.
