Koshinto stupa comprising a standing six-armed Shomen-Kongo, the Siddham-script seed syllable symbolizing Shomen Kongo incised near the apex of the funagata-style mandorla, a full moon atop clouds at the upper left and a partially eclipsed sun at the upper right, with three seated wise monkeys (hear, see, speak no evil) underfoot and a chicken to either side, sculpted in relief from a purple-brown igneous stone. Mid- to late-Edo Period ca. 1800. Very good condition overall, with only very minor old loss. Traces of polychrome.

Height: 88 cm
Width: 42 cm
Depth: 24 cm

A monumentally scaled Koshinto stupa in laudable condition, the likes of which are no longer readily available in the local Japanese market. Highly collectible.
