This is a Pre-Columbian MOCHE Metal CROWN from Peru, 100 - 800 A.D. It measures about 14 1/4" (from end to end) X 3/4" ( 36.3 cm X 1.9 cm ). The Moche Civilization built massive sacred Huacas (pyramids). Ceramics were their main expression of art. The Moches created sculptural and plain paint-ornamented vessels of which, the most traditional and popular were the stirrup spout vessels. Their motifs were very diverse: animals, plants, human life, mythology, rituals, fishing, hunting, combat, sacrifices.
