was a Topographical Illustrator and Architect.
He was born in London,England and in 1819 he was apprenticed to the Architect,Francis Goodwin. Allom was a Founder Member of the Royal Institute of British Architects(RIBA).
His prints of China successfully depict the culture of the Chinese people in the mid 19TH.Century as well as picturesque views of the countryside,towns and villages. The various Cultural images portray festivals,sacrifices,various merchants and silk and tea processes,etc.
The gilded frame measures 14 1/2' X 13 1/2". The gilded surrounding the engraving itself measures 8 1/4' x 7 1/4". The quality of both the engraving and the gilded frame is very nice and very tasteful for each other.
