Considered by many to be the best Herschede Grandfather clock made during 20th century, this rare clock is almost identical to "The Edinburgh" and the "Wellington" models (c1978). However it was made without the leaded or metal overlay on the glass. It is both functional and beautiful, having a solid & veneer mahogany cabinet with book-matched mahogany overlays. Excellent running condition, eight-day time & strike movement, with moving moon dial, featuring two moons and two seascapes. Remarkable sounding chimes on nine (9) nickel chime tubes, and a triple-time which strikes on the quarters & hour (Westminster, Canterbury & Whittington) and a finely crafted lyre pendulum. The face is a highlight of the clock with 14 karat gold-plating, hand-engraved & rivets are silver-plated. It also has three (3) gold-washed weights. The clock stands 86" high, and is 25" wide by 16" deep. This stately and elegant clock would be the highlight of any room in which it is displayed. It is available for local pickup only, and can be seen and heard at the High Street Antiques and Design, in Plano, Texas. Prior appointment is advisable. Professional delivery and setup within the Dallas/Fort Worth local area can be arranged at an additional cost to the buyer.
