Studio Offered is a vintage minimalist Brand & Greenberg studio glass perfume bottle. The bottle has a black chamber encased in thick, textured clear glass. The simple modified cylindrical form and solid colorless stopper with a red tip expose the simple, elegant shape of the submerged black glass chamber. The bottle is 5 "tall, including the stopper x 3 "wide, signed and dated on the base as shown, and in excellent like-new condition, with; no chips, scuffs, or repairs noted. Born in 1957, Alex Brand has worked with glass for over 40 years. After graduating from the Tyler School of Art at Temple University in Philadelphia, Brand worked for a small glass shop in Massachusetts. "In the early '80s, when I got into it, the movement of artists doing glass was still pretty new and easier to break into." After a few years, Brand opened a studio and worked collaboratively with Ann Dee Greenberg during the 1980s and 1990s. His work is included in many museums and private collections, including the Smithsonian, the Corning Museum of Glass, and the Philadelphia Museum of Art Craft Shows. It has appeared in several books and magazines and has been selected four times for inclusion in New Glass Review. Brand currently resides and owns a gallery at The Greenbriar Resort in Lewisburg, West Virginia, with his wife, Susan Thomas.
