Offered is a vintage Buzz Blodget studio glass perfume bottle with a multi-color orange, red, violet, and blue chamber partially encased in clear glass with Blodgett's signature "sea foam" bubbles. The bottle is 5 1/2 "tall, including the clear glass tear-drop stopper, by 3" wide. It is in excellent condition with no chips, scuffs, or repairs noted and signed and dated 1992 on the bottom, as shown. Buzz Blodgett is known for his high-quality vases, perfume bottles, bowls, paperweights, and oil lamps. He began blowing glass in 1969 after his ceramicist father, Walter, built a glass furnace. Soon after, in 1970, the father and son team established Blodgett Studio. Buzz began doing all of the glassblowing for the studio in 1975. Buzz earned his Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from San Diego State University. He has taught glassblowing at the University of California, San Diego. His work is included in many public and private collections and exhibited in galleries throughout the United States, including the Corning Museum of Glass. Born and raised in California, Buzz has lived by the ocean and surfed all his life. His work frequently has an internal spray of bubbles in the thick, clear crystal base, reflecting his love of the water. He attains these "sea foam" bubbles by blending natural mineral compounds into molten glass encased in crystal.
