Offered is a hand-blown Fire Island Glass Studio (Michael LaBarbera) glass perfume bottle with two polished faceted windows and a chamber encased with two layers of glass. The first layer is colorless and pink glass with controlled bubbles, and the second is colorless glass with black horizontal stripes. The bottle is 4 1/2” tall, including a dramatic black glass teardrop stopper, 3” wide, and 2” deep. It is in excellent condition, with minor scratches on the bottom consistent with age and light use, and no other scratches, chips, or repairs noted, and signed, dated, and numbered on the bottom, as shown. Founded in 1981 by Matthew LaBarbera and Teresa Ueltschey, Fire Island Glass Studio was the oldest glass studio in Texas. Located in a small industrial park in Austin, the studio was in business for 25 years and closed in 2007. Galleries sold the pieces, including perfume bottles, produced by Fire Island Glass Studio and are still highly sought after today.
