This is an early Japanese round lacquered powder flask with a round carved boxwood ojime bead and a boar tusk netsuke. The flask has been wonderfully fashioned from timber and lacquered with a stippled and textured effect to the surface. The spout and top also appear to be lacquered timber. The top comes off the spout with an audible airtight pop like the day it was made and the cord is attached to the flask via two bronze loops. The boar tusk netsuke appears to be made from two back-to-back tusks. This piece is in excellent condition with no damage.
