This Circa 1900 figural box is quite large measuring 12 ½ inches in height. It is lightly gilded on both the exterior and interior and has a hinged opening in the middle of the bird’s body. It is very realistically embossed with very fine feather work and the beak and claws are very well defined. The bird has red glass eyes and the 3 1/4 inch diameter circular base has beading around the rim and is also highly decorative with a mythical frog figure. It has a full set of Dutch hallmarks for first standard 950 silver. It is in beautiful condition and very unusual. Beautiful Design.
