Pair of French-style sterling silver candlesticks. Made by Gorham in Providence, ca. 1900. Each: baluster support on knop on dome foot with scalloped rim and 3 paw feet mounted to bracket supports. Socket has detachable bobeche. Ornament includes applied masks, scallop shells, and foliage. Socket has gadrooning and egg and dart. A charming mix of Neoclassical motifs and Rococo exuberance. Hallmark includes letters “VYD” and retailers mark “Spaulding & Co. Chicago”. Excellent condition with good patina.
