Beautiful sterling silver basket epergne. Made by Frank W. Smith in Gardner, Mass., ca. 1910, for Bailey, Banks & Biddle in Philadephia. Raised base supports central basket and 4 reeded whiplash arms, each supporting same basket in small scale.

Each basket: solid and oval well and side and flared mouth. Sides have vertical and tubular piercing and solid and scrolled cartouches (vacant). Rim is molded and scalloped with trefoil set in c scroll. Spread reeded foot ring and swing handle.

Flat but with dynamic whoosh. Hallmark includes maker’s and retailer’s marks and no. 2516.
