George VI sterling silver desk box. Made in Birmingham in 1951. Rectangular with plain and straight sides. Cover flat and hinged with engine-turned ornament: horizontal waves bordered by wrap-around waves and lines. In center vertical lines terminating in notched comma-form tab. Corner supports same. Box interior cedar lined. Box underside leather lined.
A snazzy design with lots of room for engraving (cover interior also plain). Indistinct maker’s mark, though probably Barker Bros. Very good condition with crisp corners.
Dimensions: H 2 1/4 x W 7 1/8 x D 3 7/8 in. Total weight: 23.6 troy ounces. BO548
