Colonial Indian silver tea set, ca 1900. This set comprises teapot, creamer, and sugar.
Each: globular with scalloped rim and stepped foot. Handles rectilinear brackets. Teapot has finial in form of elephant seated in lotus position. Decorated with arcade frames inset with chased and repousse scenes of daily life on stippled ground: figures (some wearing turbans) carry water, make music, and meditate. Local color includes palm trees. A great roundup of exotic motifs. Sweet Raj-era pastoral. Appears to be unmarked. Very good condition.
