Chinese export silver mug, ca 1890. Straight sides with chased and repousse scenes of daily life, including robed greybeards, pavilions, and bamboo. A sweet deployment of exotic motifs. The scrolled bamboo handle completes the look. Armorial frame with engraved monogram. Hallmarked Chinese characters with initials KMS – probably Kwong Man Shing, a Hong Kong silversmith and retailer. Very good condition and patina.
