Victorian sterling silver baby cup. Made by John Newton Mappin in London in 1888. Drum-form with gadrooned bottom and domed foot. Leaf-mounted and chamfered bracket handle. Embossed ornament with cherubs feeding grapes to lions. The figures emerge from center of rinceaux scrolls. Fantasy mix of classicism and heraldry. Fully marked. Good condition with deep patina.
