Large sterling silver trophy with hunting motif. Made by Gorham in Providence in 1892. Concave urn with round bottom. Two leaf-mounted and capped scaly dolphin c-scroll handles. Baluster shaft on raised and bellied foot with stepped rim. Two ribbon-tied wreaths of which one vacant and the other with bird shoot: Landscape with soaring birds. One appears to have been hit by one of the gun-wielding men in the foreground. Nice turn-of-the-century scene. Bottom has overlapping and stippled wavy ribbon. Fluid, scattered leaves chased on baluster and foot.
Fully marked including date symbol and no. 3783. Very good condition with deep patina.
