Turn-of-the-century sterling silver tea set. Made by Shiebler in New York. This set comprises 6 pieces: Hot water kettle on stand, coffeepot, teapot, creamer, sugar, and waste bowl.
Globular and oval bodies. Covers domed (kettle and pot covers hinged). Handles c-scroll except kettle handle, which is shaped trefoil. Kettle stand has solid and waisted supports and domed heating element with chained cap. Creamer and waste bowl have gilt washed interior. Interlaced script monogram engraved to underside. Allover repousse with dense flower heads and leaves on stippled ground. Pretty and tactile in an influential style.
Fully marked. All pieces numbered 1493 except kettle on stand, which is unnumbered. Fine condition.
