This is a striking 14 karat and white gold and brooch in a bow design set with sapphires and diamonds in a dynamic composition. The ribbon is formed with an openwork design of gold wire accented with gold wire scrolls and studded with small white gold leaves set with small diamonds. The bow is centered with a double band of sapphires together with a diamond studded white gold band. The shape and design of this brooch is both elegant and whimsical. It measures approx. 1 1/2” high and approx. 2 1/2” wide, and is marked on the back and on the hinged double prong clasp with the marks 750, the initials P.D., and the word Solvil. This brooch is a fine example of twentieth century American jewelry design from around 1940, and beautiful combines color and texture in an unusual way. A classic retro design that would be a striking addition to any jewelry box!
