This beautiful 8 Piece Tea and Coffee Service was made by Tiffany & Co. circa 1907. It is fully hallmarked with the Tiffany & Co. maker’s mark, sterling standard, pattern #16631, order number and date letter “m” for pieces made between 1907 and 1947. Although the pattern number indicates that this set was first made in 1906, the date letter suggests this set was sold at a later point in time, perhaps around 1907 or 1910. The set is comprised of a Tea Pot, Coffee Pot, Hot Water Pot, Kettle on Stand with Burner, Covered Sugar Bowl, Creamer, Waste Bowl and Two Handled Oval Tray. The Hot Water Pot, Tea Pot, Coffee Pot and Kettle on Stand each have beautifully carved ivory handles.
This Tea and Coffee Service is a prime example of pieces produced by Tiffany in the early 20th century in the Arts and Crafts style. The leaf form strap work on the bodies and the sinuous style of the handles are motifs indicative of the Arts and Crafts style of decoration. This is a very interesting set in that the style of decoration identifies the set as part of the suite of holloware produced by Tiffany in the St. Dunstan pattern. This set was first produced in 1906. But, the flatware was not produced until 1909. Perhaps the St. Dunstan Holloware was so successful on the retail level that Tiffany decided to make the flatware, as well. Height of Coffeepot: 7 1/4 inches. Length of Tray:27 1/2 inches. Total Weight: 314 Troy Ounces
