This is a stunning Armoire made by the end of the 19th century and directly inspired of the Louis XVI Style more or less a century earlier, boasting the classical greenish lacquer typical from the period. This item is actually called a Transition piece, it has both the Louis XV and Louis XVI patterns. This lovely antique is beautifully accented with an intricately sculpted pierced carved cartouche depicting a shell surrounded with acanthus leaves standing upon a tall pair of doors boasting their original beveled mirrors and revealing a spacious storage area with a couple of shelves and an interior bottom drawer, all supported by a straight apron on very detailed and slightly scrolled cabriole legs. The lock on the door is not original while the one on the interior bottom drawer is. They are both in working order. Several minor scratches and dents can be seen due to the age as well as minor dark spots on the mirrors. Circa date 1890. Dimensions 93"high 55"wide 21"deep.
