This is an elegant Commode made from solid and exquisitely patinaed walnut throughout the second half of the 19th century. It consists of a serpentine shaped beveled top sitting upon a slightly bombee facade, gracefully supported by tall carbriole legs on escargot feet. This commode is directly inspired of the Louis XV era more or less a century earlier. Both drawers are beautifully accented with fine acanthus-shaped moldings and mounted with their original bronze handles and escutcheons. Wear consistent with age and use. Circa date 1870-1880. Dimensions 34½"high/ 51"wide/ 20½”deep.
