This is a beautiful Commode boasting a lovely patinaed Cypress veneer, made during the first part of the 20th century and directly inspired of the French Empire period more or less one hundred and twenty years earlier. This piece is topped by its original "Patricia Green" marble (originally coming from the Aosta valley in northwest Italy), which has been repaired at some point. The step-back facade is offering a spacious storage capacity thanks to five drawers. It is intricately accented with ornaments depicting the classical Empire style motifs. The upper drawer is mounted with a thyrse centering the sun with boar shaped handles. The side columns are embellished with Victory wreath above female masks and palmette with the typical human feet at the base. Minor scratches and dents can be seen here and there due to the age. Circa date 1920-1930. Dimensions 33½"high/ 34½"wide/ 18"deep.
