 SOLD - Thank you!
An exceptional and very rare to find early Taxco repousse bracelet, I am used to similar pieces - as rarely as they come up - hailing from Mexico City where Matilde Poulat also developed her style. Yet this one is clearly marked "Taxco" and though its design and the techniques used remind me of similar work done by P.Ochoa, the bracelet at hand is not signed for maker. This is simply phenomenal repousse with texturing that lends more depth to it and motifs borrowing heavily from Mexico's Aztec and Maya art. Even the side links parallel the revered Feathered Serpent's scales... The bracelet has an inner circumference of 7" and its width varies between 1 5/8" at the center front and 1 1/8" near the clasp, in the back. It weighs 54.3 grams and is marked "TAXCO 925". I would suggest that it dates in the 1930s and it is in excellent vintage condition with fantastic patina and a nicely carved jade mask. Please note that there is a little bit of wiggle to the stone but it's secure in its bezel and there is no fear of its falling out.
