A legendary name in the design and production of jewelry in this country,
Napier has a long history that goes back into the 19th c..
The company's lines include both costume and sterling silver creations and their quality was such that jewelry with the Napier signature was worn by US beauty pageant queens as well as famous First Ladies.
I am therefore thrilled to be able to present this very rare bracelet here.
Crafted in sterling silver, its central figural link is comprised of three different layers that put together form a wooded frame with two fawns amidst trees and lush foliage.
It has been alleged that the design was inspired by Walt Disney's 1942 movie "Bambi" but I am not sure if this is indeed the case.
I am hoping that the publication of Melinda Lewis's book on the history of Napier jewelry will indicate whether this is true or not.
In the meantime, I don't think I could ever exaggerate the beauty, craftsmanship and the three-dimensional quality of this bracelet.
Stunning to look at, comfortable to wear and a piece that true collectors will vie for.
The bracelet has an inner circumference of 6 3/4" with its width varying between 1 5/16" at center front and 1/2" at its narrowest, near the clasp. It is marked "NAPIER STERLING", weighs 47.9 grams and dates in the 1950s-60s In excellent vintage condition with fantastic patina.
