Obviously based on Matilde Poulat's "moth" design, an early Deco silver and turquoise ring that could hail from Mexico City yet it's difficult to say since it's unmarked. "Moth" jewelry does not come up very often and I am thrilled to have found this ring - it would be a great match for the Gomez brooch of the same design also available in my inventory (just take a look at item no 1112471).
The ring at hand is not your run-of-the-mill, hastily put together modern emulation of a Matl piece; please note the beauty of the repoussage, the clean, crisp design and the appropriately hand-hammered shank. I wish it also came with a maker's signature...
The ring is a size 7.25 and its face measures 1" by 1 1/8". It weighs 8.8 grams and is not marked for either maker or metal purity yet it is guaranteed silver and, I suspect, of sterling quality at least.
Dating in the 1920s-30s and in excellent vintage condition with a beautifully veined turquoise.
