What is there to be said about this Villasana clamper that a careful look at the photos won't reveal in the most detailed, decidedly direct and breath-taking way? Sometimes I just feel that a picture is indeed worth a thousand words... Undoubtedly one of Villasana's most ornate bracelets, this one betrays an almost Art Nouveau-ish influence with its elaborate repoussage flowing in all directions. The patina here adds the final touch to a true Taxco masterpiece. The bracelet has an inner circumference of 7" (adjustable upwards, of course, due to its hinged construction) and its width varies between 3 3/4" in the front and 1 1/4" at its narrowest, next to the hinge. It weighs a very generous 71.3 grams and is signed with Villasana's conjoined initials "AV" in a circle formed by "HECHO EN MEXICO TAXCO" as well as with "STERLING 925". Dating in the 1940s and in excellent vintage condition with patina to die for and a very springy, tight hinge.
