 SOLD - Thank you!
Out of her taller, which opened in 1953, Emma Melendez, niece to renowned maestro Rafael Melendez, sold hand-wrought silver jewelry by her and other known or still unidentified makers, Jose Luis Flores, Francisco Rivera and Victor Jaimez being among them. The cuff bracelet at hand, in an ornate "Old World" design, ties together stylized heart elements cut out of thick silver sheet, deeply chased and oxidized. The result is imposing and the applied sterling "ties" that seemingly hold the piece together bestow a strong "Arts and Crafts" feeling to it. Having an inner circumference of 6 7/8" (including the 1 5/8" gap) the cuff has a width that varies between 1 7/8" at center front and 1 1/8" toward the two ends. It weighs 55.6 grams and is signed with Emma's name in block letters alongside Eagle 3 assay mark and "STERLING TAXCO". It dates in the 1950s-60s and is in excellent vintage condition with fantastic patina. Please note that the bracelet is ever so slightly out of round but this doesn't affect presentation nor wearability.
