Very rarely does one come upon Italian Renaissance Revival jewelry from the Deco period that are embellished in a style resembling Austro-Hungarian pieces from the turn of the 20th c. and I am thrilled to be presenting this necklace here. Old, mature gilding with faux pearls, chrysoprase cabs and emerald green glass gems add to the elaborate figural and foliate links. The cabs are open on the back to maximize on the effect of light and their bezels raised and ornate - even the clasp is hidden in the design. The necklace measures a wearable 16 1/2" long with the central station being 2" wide by 1 1/2" tall. It weighs a good 45.8 grams and though not hallmarked for metal content, it tests as silver and is guaranteed of at least .800 purity. The necklace dates in the 1910s-30s and is in excellent vintage condition, luxurious yet classy and elegant at the same time.
