Huge at 4" tall, a superb A. Tobias Mexican silver repousse cuff bracelet, wrought out of sterling sheet with good thickness that allowed for pronounced sculpturality and has protected the repoussage during its long life. Maestro Tobias is one of those early Mexican silversmiths who worked in the so-called Mexico City style associated with Matilde Poulat. His jewelry has been growing in appreciation among collectors not only because it offers a worthy alternative to Matl pieces but also because of the high quality of materials used and their impeccable craftsmanship. The cuff at hand has an inner circumference of 7 3/8" (including the 1 3/4" gap) and it reaches 4" in height! Possibly the tallest version of his cuffs, it weighs 109.4 grams and is signed with his name as well as "MEXICO SILVER". The bracelet dates in the pre-1948 period and is in excellent vintage condition, breath-takingly bold, with the most amazing patina that renders the repoussage even more dramatic and no damage or repairs noted.
