 SOLD - Thank you!
Deco Jose Anton Mexican silver necklace in a design that combines Margot de Taxco’s easily recognizable “roses” motif with mossy green thick jade disks nested in silver settings. I find the combination ingenious since the disks add a certain degree of “umpf” to an otherwise very delicate design that does not, however, take away from its classic elegance. Maestro Jose Anton is among Taxco’s earliest, most talented silversmiths and I am always on the look out for his creations for their exceptional craftsmanship and attention to detail. For those of us who love sets I am showing the necklace with a matching set of Margot de Taxco earrings that are also available in my inventory. The necklace's length is adjustable between 15″ (wearable; actual necklace length) and 19 1/2″ (with use of sterling extension provided). It is 7/8″ wide (diameter of disk links) and weighs 67.8 grams (including extension). It is signed with maker’s signature “ANTON” as well as “STERLING TAXCO” and “MEXICO" and dates in the 1940s. In very good vintage condition with exceptional crispness in the repousse roses links, great patina that adds sculpturality to the design, beautiful color in the Mexican jade disks that are in great shape with a few minor fleabites off the edge here and there, no unsightly damage nor any repairs noted – a very rare version of a Margot original creation
