Scandinavian jewelry is one of my big loves and I am thrilled to be presenting a big, bold sterling vermeil and enamel brooch by Aksel Holmsen. One of Norway's most collected designers, Holmsen is a master when it comes to the art of enameling and quite often, like in our case, he applies a vermeil finish on sterling. Pearlescent off-white and luminous lavender-purple look perfect together on the flower's petals and the silver gilt has darkened with time and ties everything together. The brooch is a very generous 2.5" tall by 2 1/4" wide and it weighs 22.3 grams.
It is fully hallmarked with Holmsen's logo as shown as well as "NORWAY", "STERLING 925S and dates in the 1960s-70s. In
excellent vintage condition with a rather rare combination of colors in the enamel, free of any damage or repairs, with patina to die for.
