Rare and rather early in the Los Ballesteros career, this is a very unusual double-row foliate design executed en repoussage with tiny beading along the perimeter of the sterling leaves. According to Hougart, the hallmark combination found on this piece was used in the 1940-42 period so the bracelet was made either before or right after the taller’s move from Iguala to Taxco. I love the naturalist tendency it exhibits and adore the beautifully decorated box of the clasp – it’s a tiny work of art by itself. Measuring a wearable 7 1/8″ long it is just shy of 2″ wide and weighs 59.3 grams. It is marked with maker’s signature as shown as well as “STERLING 925” and dates in the early 1940s. In excellent vintage condition and a delight to wear since its articulation allows it to conform to your wrist’s every move, it proved equally difficult to photograph without taking the safety chain off and I hope you will excuse the over-use of the prop…
