Pearls are among my favorite jewelry components and the ones in this fabulous Art Nouveau / Arts and Crafts silver bracelet are wonderful little spheres of glistening white. There is something magical about pearls, the way they are created, and their absolute elegance. Here they are set in sculptural foliate links, as if somebody just threw a handful of them in the garden and left them there among the leaves. Though it is hallmarked, I have not been able to identify the maker of the bracelet - the marks are just too tiny. It is, however, a European piece since it is made of 800 silver - could be German, could be early Scandinavian. Does it matter, though? The bracelet is a generous 8 1/2" long (wearable) by 1 1/4" wide and weighs 56.2 grams. It bears tiny hallmarks for metal quality (800) and maker (unreadable to me) and dates in the first quarter of 20th c.. It is in excellent vintage condition with warmly glowing patina that reflects and enhances the gleaming off-white of the pearls. The pearls are in great shape as well with their nacre intact. Fabulous sculptural design, good weight and no damage or repairs noted.
