Nicely cast and rich in ornamental details the Mexican starburst brooch presented here is signed by ProSa and cast in sterling silver. The star is slightly convex and its six rays have a lace-like quality, their point of convergence marked by an oval amethyst cabochon, full of inclusions that glisten when the light hits them. Perfect as a brooch, it wouldn't be difficult to have it converted to a pendant as well so you can enjoy it with your favorite chain. Measuring 2 3/8" in diameter the pin weighs 15.1 grams and is marked with maker's signature as shown as well as des. no 7280 and Eagle 5 assay mark. It dates in the 1950s-60s and is in excellent vintage condition with no damage or repairs noted, very nice detail in the elaborate casting, with a beautiful stone and nice patina.
