Heavy Mexican silver and black onyx modernist necklace, this is a 1980s copy of an Antonio Pineda original. The necklace's trapezoidal links are graduated in size and strung as tight as is necessary to allow it to sit perfect around the neck. The central links, thirteen in number, hold cabochons set in raised bezels. Very nicely made, a necklace that epitomizes the less-is-more attitude that characterizes a lot of Antonio's designs. Measuring 16" long (wearable) with its width varying between 1" and 5/8" it weighs a very generous 223.0 grams (on a postal scale). It is signed with maker's registration code as shown as well as "TAXCO MEXICO" and "925" and dates in the 1980s. In excellent vintage condition with great patina, imposing presence, its onyx cabs securely set in their bezels with no damage or repairs noted.
