 SOLD - Thank you!
Generously long, with a hefty chain and an unusual stylized floral design, this early Mexican Deco necklace combines silver and copper in a playful yet still bold way. The graduated tulip links bring to my mind classic representations of the flower in Ottoman art - the blooms are slender and tall as opposed to the hybrids we are used today which are shorter and rounder. The minimalism of the floral links is set off by the cheerfulness of the mixed metals dangles, each made up of four "dimpled dot" repousse semi-spheres. I still cannot get over the "seriousness" of the thick, handmade chain. What a way to keep flowers around your neck! The necklace measures 18" long (wearable; once clasped, it becomes a little roomier at 18 1/2" (can easily accept an extension, if more length is needed) with the floral part being 8 1/4" long and adding a drop that varies between 2" and 2 5/8" (including the dangles). It weighs 71.5 grams and is simply marked "SILVER MEXICO" and "STERLING". It dates in the 1940s and is in excellent vintage codition with an unusual design, great patina and generous presence, with no damage and no repairs noted. PS: The matching bracelet is also available and will be offered shortly - if you don't see it, please ask!
