Sometimes things just fall into your lap unexpectedly and this is what happened with the two Antonio Pineda brooches I am listing today. First up a fun (albeit ... smelly in real life, if you are not careful) figural brooch glorifying our beloved skunk! At least, I think it's a skunk and I wish I had a more noble name for the creature. Such an unusual, tongue-in-cheek design for Antonio who is seriously modernist and quite heavy at times. Nice overlay, deep oxidation, almost out of a cartoon yet so beautifully rendered. It's Antonio after all... The brooch measures 1 3/4" wide by 1" tall and weighs 10.6 grams. It is fully hallmarked with Antonio's crown, "970 SILVER", "HECHO EN MEXICO", des. no PR 568 and Eagle 17 assay mark and dates in the 1950s-60s. It is in excellent vintage condition in a fun, easy to enjoy design, nice patina, its oxidation in great shape (just some old cleaning liquid residue that can be easily removed under running lukewarm water), with no damage and no repairs noted.
