The quintessential Art Deco designer, Abraham Paz is one of the earliest maestros of Mexico's 20th c. Silver Renaissance. He worked in Mexico City and many of the designs we associate with Fred Davis are actually Paz's creations. His minimalist "masks", shield-form links and tiered ring settings epitomize the elegant geometry the 1920s and 1930s are known for while also foreshadowing the less-is-more attitude of modernism. Pinky-size yet easily resizable, the ring I am presenting here is adorned with a piece of amethyst rich in inclusions that rests graciously upon an angular sterling gallery. It is currently a sz 4.5 US (yet easily resizable by your jeweler) with its face being 3/4" N-S and 5/8" E-W. It weighs 5.3 grams and is fully signed with maker's initials "AP" as shown as well as "STERLING MEXICO". The ring dates in the 1920s-30s and is in very good vintage condition with great design, nice patina and a beautiful stone; no damage nor any repairs noted but there is a very small fleabite off one ridge - not visible to the naked eye though and thus not distracting from the ring's beauty.
